Residential development in Morocco is entering a period of change. Rising energy costs, a warming climate and a growing appetite for better-designed housing are pushing developers to think beyond the individual apartment and towards the performance of the community as a whole.
Orientation, shading and cross ventilation cost very little at the design stage and pay back for the entire life of a building. Landscaped courtyards lower surface temperatures and give residents somewhere to gather. Photovoltaic systems reduce reliance on conventional energy for shared services.
None of this is exotic technology. It is careful planning applied consistently, and it is how we approach every development we undertake.
